Chainsaw Man Finale: Did Makima Die? The Fate of the Control Devil and the Birth of Nayuta
In Tatsuki Fujimoto's dark fantasy masterpiece Chainsaw Man, Makima, the leader of Public Safety's Special Division 4, is undoubtedly the most mysterious and oppressive core character of Part 1, the 'Public Safety Arc.' She is sometimes gentle, sometimes冷酷, and her powerful control abilities and inscrutable motives make countless readers both love and fear her. As the plot reached its climax, one of the biggest mysteries fans were concerned about was: Did Makima ultimately die? This article will deeply analyze Makima's final fate and the deeper lore behind the story.

The Unkillable Control Devil?
Makima's true identity is the 'Control Devil,' a devil of extremely high rank. Her棘手 nature stems from a contract with the Japanese Prime Minister, which converts any damage inflicted upon her into diseases or accidents for the citizens of Japan. This grants her a near-immortal body, allowing her to resurrect unscathed even after suffering fatal attacks multiple times in the story, such as being shot through the head by the Gun Devil. This nearly invincible ability made defeating her seem like an impossible task.
Denji's Surprise Attack: A Battle That Defied Convention
In the final battle of the manga's Part 1, Denji and Makima engaged in their fated duel. Makima had always believed she controlled Denji, but her true interest and attempts at control were directed at the 'Chainsaw Man (Pochita)' residing within Denji. She could identify others by scent but never truly saw Denji himself as significant, viewing him only as the 'Chainsaw Man's heart.'
Denji exploited this very point. In the final battle, he had Pochita fight Makima intensely in his Chainsaw Man form, drawing her full attention. Meanwhile, the real Denji, sustained by the blood left by Power before her death, wielded a chainsaw made from Power's blood and launched a fatal surprise attack on the unsuspecting Makima. This attack succeeded because Makima was always focused on the Chainsaw Devil's true form and overlooked Denji as an independent individual.
Consumption in the Name of 'Love'
However, merely killing Makima was not enough to stop her resurrection. To completely sever her regeneration cycle, Denji took an unprecedented approach: he dismembered her body, cooked it into various dishes (like ginger pork), and ate it all.
