Introduction / Synopsis

Summary

A Couple of Cuckoos is a romantic comedy TV anime produced by Shin-Ei Animation, based on the manga by Miki Yoshikawa. The story follows two young people whose fates become entangled after being switched at birth, only to find themselves bound together by an unexpected engagement. Packed with laugh-out-loud moments and heartfelt romantic tension, the series masterfully balances comedy and emotion. Directed by Hiroaki Akagi and Yoshiyuki Shirahata, with series composition by Yasuhiro Nakanishi, the creative team brings characters like Erika Amano and Sachi Umino to life with charm and energy. A must-watch for fans of feel-good romance anime.

Plot

Nagi Umino has lived an ordinary high school life, never knowing that a mix-up at the hospital shortly after his birth set the stage for an extraordinary twist of fate. When the day finally comes for him to meet his biological family, a chance encounter with Erika Amano—a glamorous student from an elite all-girls school—throws his world into delightful chaos. Before he knows it, Nagi finds himself reluctantly playing the role of her boyfriend to help her out of a sticky situation. What neither of them could have anticipated is just how deeply their families are already intertwined. Suddenly thrust into an unexpected living arrangement, both Nagi and Erika carry their own private feelings and personal agendas into this peculiar new chapter of their lives. With misunderstandings, family expectations, and the unpredictable nature of young hearts all in the mix, this romantic comedy promises to be anything but straightforward.
