Forest of Piano is a music drama TV anime produced by Gaina, based on the manga by Makoto Isshiki. The series follows Kai Ichinose, a free-spirited boy who plays a forgotten piano in the woods, and Shuuhei Amamiya, a classically trained prodigy, as their fates intertwine under the mentorship of the enigmatic Sousuke Ajino. Directed by Manabu Nakatani with series composition by Aki Itami, this adaptation masterfully captures the raw passion of classical music and the emotional journey of two young pianists striving to reach the world stage.

Set against a backdrop of contrasting worlds, this is a quiet yet deeply resonant story centered on the piano and the lives it shapes. Kai Ichinose grew up in humble and unconventional circumstances, spending his childhood drawn to a weathered, forgotten piano left abandoned in the woods near his home. With no formal training and no one to guide him, he poured himself into the instrument purely out of instinct and raw passion. Meanwhile, Shuuhei Amamiya was raised in an entirely different reality — born into a distinguished family of pianists, he has been immersed in the world of classical music since before he could walk. Where Kai's relationship with the piano is wild and self-taught, Shuuhei's is structured and steeped in tradition. Despite coming from opposite ends of the social spectrum, both boys share an undeniable, profound connection to the same instrument — and it is this shared bond that sets the stage for their paths to eventually cross.
