Introduction / Synopsis
Summary
Say "I love you". is a TV anime drama series produced by ZEXCS, adapted from the manga by Kanae Hazuki. The story follows Mei Tachibana, a solitary girl who has never trusted anyone, as her world transforms after a fateful encounter with popular student Yamato Kurosawa. At its core, the series delivers an emotionally honest portrayal of vulnerability, connection, and first love. Directed by Takuya Sato with series composition by Michiko Yokote, the production team brings Hazuki's deeply resonant source material to life with thoughtful, character-driven storytelling.
Plot
Say 'I Love You' is a heartfelt high school romance set in an ordinary Japanese town, centered on a girl who has built her world around one simple rule: never trust anyone. After being deeply hurt in the past, Mei Tachibana has spent her school years completely alone, avoiding friendships and keeping everyone at arm's length. It's a lonely existence, but one she's come to accept as her own. Everything changes when Yamato Kurosawa — popular, good-looking, and seemingly adored by everyone around him — unexpectedly takes notice of her. Mei isn't searching for connection, and she certainly isn't looking to be saved. Yet something shifts when their worlds collide, and the walls she's carefully constructed begin to feel less certain. Haunted by old wounds and wary of new ones, Mei must navigate unfamiliar emotional territory in a story that explores what it truly means to open your heart again.
