Summary

Witch Hat Atelier is a fantasy drama ONA anime with a distinct artistic sensibility, adapted from the manga by Kamome Shirahama. Produced by BUG FILMS under the direction of Ayumu Watanabe, with series composition by Hiroshi Seko, the series blends shoujo storytelling with richly imagined fantasy world-building. Centered around Qifrey and Coco, this visually crafted production brings the beloved source material to life with an artful and emotionally resonant approach.

Plot

In Witch Hat Atelier, magic is simply a part of everyday life — dragons soar through the skies and spells are cast without a second thought. Yet one belief remains unquestioned: witches and wizards are born with their abilities, and no amount of wishing can change that. For Coco, a girl whose heart is set on becoming a witch, this supposed truth has long cast a shadow over her dreams. With no innate magical talent to speak of, she has nearly convinced herself to let go of everything she's ever hoped for. Then a chance encounter with Qifrey, an enigmatic wandering magician, turns her world upside down. Witnessing Qifrey's magic performed in a way she has never imagined possible, Coco begins to question whether what everyone "knows" is really the whole story — and whether her dream of becoming a witch might still be within reach after all.

As Coco sets out alone toward the exam destination with uncertain steps, Mount Dada stands in her way.
