Introduction / Synopsis

Summary

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is a TV anime adapted from the manga by fujita, produced by A-1 Pictures with Yoshimasa Hiraike serving as both director and series composition. Set in a relatable workplace environment, the series follows Narumi Momose and her childhood friend Hirotaka Nifuji as they navigate a budding romance, alongside fellow otaku couple Tarou Kabakura and Hanako Koyanagi. Blending comedy, romance, and slice-of-life storytelling, Wotakoi offers a refreshingly honest look at love between adults who share a passion for anime, games, and manga—proving that finding romance as an otaku is hard, but not impossible.

Plot

Set in a modern Tokyo workplace, Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku offers a refreshing romantic comedy centered on adults who share a passionate love for anime, manga, and gaming culture—while trying to keep that side of themselves hidden from their professional lives. Narumi Momose is an energetic office worker embarking on her very first day at a new company. Determined to reinvent herself, she carries one carefully guarded secret: she is a devoted fujoshi and otaku. Her carefully laid plans for a fresh start, however, are immediately put to the test when she unexpectedly crosses paths with Hirotaka Nifuji, a childhood friend she hasn't seen in years. To make things even more interesting, their colleagues Hanako Koyanagi and Tarou Kabakura also have hidden otaku identities of their own. As these four adults navigate the everyday pressures of office life, their shared passions quietly bring them together, setting the stage for a uniquely charming and relatable romance that only fellow otaku could truly understand.
