Karasuno's "Freak Quick": The Starting Point of a Dream

Shoyo Hinata's volleyball career began at Karasuno High School, where he formed a remarkable "Freak Quick" combination with the genius setter Tobio Kageyama. Although his height was his biggest disadvantage, he relied on his extraordinary jumping power, speed, and passion for volleyball to continuously hone his skills within the Karasuno High School volleyball club. He grew from an initial volleyball novice into the team's indispensable "Decoy." His three years at Karasuno were not only about skill development but also about building mentality and learning teamwork.
The Baptism of Brazilian Beach Volleyball: Transforming into an All-Round Player

After graduating from high school, Shoyo Hinata did not go to university but instead chose an unexpected path—traveling to Brazil for two years of beach volleyball training. This decision was a huge transformation for him, as beach volleyball emphasizes "2 vs. 2" competition, requiring players to possess more comprehensive skills, including receiving, setting, spiking, and blocking.
During his time in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Hinata honed his all-around volleyball skills through beach volleyball, particularly improving his previously weaker receiving and ball control abilities, making him a truly versatile player. During this period, he even coincidentally met and trained with his rival from his Karasuno High School days, Toru Oikawa, an experience considered to have had a profound impact on his growth.
