Ai was originally a spirit flame dwelling within a glass bead necklace belonging to the former master—a fading ember drained of her spiritual energy. It was only through Aoi Tsubaki's nurturing power that she was revived and reborn, taking her place as Aoi's familiar. She possesses the ability to transform into a glowing fireball to light the way, or to take on Aoi's appearance and act in her stead. With the innocence of a young child and an endless sense of wonder, Ai holds Aoi in the same reverence one might feel for a mother, and freely expresses her warmth through enthusiastic embraces toward those she holds dear.
