Ayumu Tanaka

Ayumu Tanaka is a first-year high school student who joined the shogi club after falling for his upperclassman Urushi Yaotome at first sight. He made a personal vow to never confess his feelings until he defeats her in a game of shogi. Despite his expressionless demeanor, he has a habit of delivering surprisingly candid romantic remarks with a completely straight face, leaving Urushi flustered. Though still a newcomer to shogi with much to learn, his remarkable perseverance drives him to keep pressing forward both on and off the board.
