Badanuki operates as a key node in the supernatural information network, pledging absolute allegiance to Kotoko Iwanaga as his revered Goddess of Wisdom. His primary role involves monitoring unusual occurrences within the yokai community—such as the sudden collapse of a library's barrier—and promptly relaying critical intelligence to Kotoko. Polite in conduct and disciplined in service, he proves to be an indispensable behind-the-scenes ally in resolving paranormal cases. Yet like most supernatural beings, he cannot suppress the primal dread that overtakes him whenever he encounters Kuro Sakuragawa and his uniquely unsettling constitution.
