Narcissistic
Ostentatiously Gentlemanly
Easily Carried Away
Originally serving as a royal envoy from a tropical southern island, Dera Mochimazzi is tasked with the crucial mission of finding a suitable bride for his prince. However, upon arriving at the Usagiyama Shopping District and crossing paths with Tamako Kitashirakawa, he hilariously misinterprets her ordinary kindness as a romantic confession. To make matters worse, he develops an immense addiction to the mochi sold at her family's shop. He overeats to the point where he becomes too overweight to fly back home, ultimately settling in as a comical freeloader. Despite being an avian creature, he possesses human-level intelligence and communicates fluently, often adopting an overly bossy and aristocratic tone. He is incredibly narcissistic, firmly believing that anyone who sneezes in his direction is secretly in love with him, and he fancies himself a relationship guru by dispensing unsolicited dating advice. Yet, beneath his pompous and arrogant exterior lies a surprisingly gentlemanly soul who genuinely connects with the local townspeople. Ironically, his full name sounds almost identical to "awful-tasting mochi" in Japanese, prompting the locals to affectionately dub him "Bird" or "Dera-chan." Furthermore, his overconfident facade instantly shatters into submissive panic whenever he is confronted by Choi, his strict fortune-teller superior from the island.
