Fido

In the world of "86 EIGHTY-SIX," Fido might look like an ordinary mass-produced M101 Barrett "Scavenger" drone, but it houses a unique, fully autonomous artificial intelligence. Originally developed by Shin's father as a robotic pet dog, Fido independently uploaded its core memory into a military unit just to search for its young master after Shin's family was taken to the internment camps. Throughout their grueling campaigns, Fido does much more than simply haul ammunition and supplies for the Spearhead Squadron; it acts as a steadfast companion, mimicking the affection and behaviors of a loyal hound. It silently documents the fleeting daily lives and tragic ends of the 86 soldiers through its optical lenses, displaying a level of empathy far beyond a mere machine. Even after enduring critical destruction on the battlefield, Fido's core is salvaged and restored within the Federacy of Giad, allowing it to fulfill its lifelong devotion to staying by Shin's side.
