Fumio Kuga is the younger brother of manga artist Ichiro Kuga, sharing his daily life with his sister Komachi. Naturally shy and not one for conversation, he spends much of his time absorbed in books and illustrated encyclopedias. Following the death of their father, he and his sister have quietly supported their manga-creating older brother. Though young and soft-spoken, Fumio watches over his family in a gentle, understated way, and remains curious about the relationship developing between his brother and Shiori Goshiki.
