A woman whose real name remains unknown, her alias "Hex" derives from the German word for witch. A fervent radical patriot and West Point graduate, she earned Green Beret qualifications and was one of the rare few to pass the experimental all-female special forces program "WW Squad" — a unit that was ultimately disbanded due to its low pass rate and political and gender-related controversies. Embittered by its dissolution, she left the military and was subsequently recruited by the CIA. After losing her fiancé in the September 11 attacks, she transferred from Eastern Europe to Afghanistan, where her extreme and legally questionable methods of hunting terrorists led to her expulsion. She was later invited by a scholar to join Operation Undershaft as its "left hand," commanding a unit composed of fellow outcasts — former intelligence officers and professional soldiers dismissed for similarly radical tactics. After launching an unauthorized assault on Koko's group and killing R, she retreated with two surviving subordinates into the mountains of northern Iraq, only to be relentlessly bombed by a B-52 dispatched by Koko in retaliation. Choosing her own terms to the last, she took her own life before the bombs could claim her.
