John is a 180-year-old pangolin who once lived as an ordinary creature in South America. After being rescued from injury by the vampire Drac, he willingly chose to become his familiar out of gratitude. Following his master to Ronald's agency, John quickly won the hearts of people throughout Shin-Yokohama through his diligent housekeeping, gentle disposition, and remarkable sociability. Despite being limited to a single vocalization—a sound resembling "Nu"—he communicates with humans with surprising ease, making him the emotional anchor of the story.
