Kai Yawara

Kai Yawara is the childhood friend who has been by Hachi Ichinari's side since their earliest years. Knowing all too well how severely Hachi struggles with social anxiety, Kai made a bold and seemingly harsh pact when they parted ways for different middle schools: if Hachi failed to befriend every classmate before graduation, their friendship would be over for good. On the surface, Kai keeps a deliberate emotional distance, acting indifferent whenever they cross paths. Behind the scenes, however, she quietly monitors Hachi's progress and even stays in touch with Hachi's new friends. Interestingly, the two share an unusual physical quirk—when overwhelmed by intense emotion, both of them are prone to sudden nausea and vomiting.
