Kaori Orimoto

Throughout the story, Kaori Orimoto views herself as a caring, "big sister" figure who possesses excellent social skills, enabling her to casually strike up conversations with virtually anyone. She is well-known for her frequent use of the catchphrase "So true!" (Sore aru!). However, her extreme extroversion is accompanied by a severe lack of tact and emotional sensitivity. During middle school, Hachiman misinterpreted her overly friendly demeanor as romantic interest; when he confessed to her, she swiftly rejected him and gossiped about the event with her friends, inadvertently inflicting deep psychological scars that shaped his cynical worldview. When they reunite during a high school double date, she continues to mock him thoughtlessly. It isn't until Hayato Hayama harshly calls out her superficial behavior that Kaori is forced to self-reflect. Over time, she acknowledges her past mistakes, becomes far more observant of people's true nature, and makes genuine efforts to mend her strained relationship with Hachiman.
