Maiko Kurashiki stands as a cornerstone of the Satogahama High School girls baseball team, excelling in both pitcher and right fielder positions. Shaped by a cold and emotionally distant upbringing, she developed a profound distrust of those around her — initially joining the club for no reason other than to avoid going home. Known among teammates as the "loner upperclassman," she struggled to connect or cooperate with others. Yet through the genuine warmth of her fellow players, her walls began to crumble, unleashing a raw talent and fierce competitive spirit that would ultimately forge her into the team's irreplaceable ace.
