Makoto Shiranui is a young boy whose heart has long been captivated by the art of magic. Leaving his hometown behind, he journeys to Tokyo with a single goal: to learn from the internationally acclaimed magician Eisato Hoshisato. He settles into life as a live-in butler at the Hoshisato residence, but everything changes when he accidentally uncovers the secret identity of his childhood friend Kana as the elusive phantom thief known as Phantom². From that moment on, Makoto becomes her trusted partner in a mission to reclaim scattered magical artifacts called "Hougu." Soft-spoken and easily flustered in everyday life, he nonetheless reveals a steadfast courage and quiet determination whenever those he cares about are in danger.
