Mamoru Itou

Mamoru Itou is one of the central characters in the series 'From the New World.' Deeply introverted and emotionally fragile, he nonetheless possesses a remarkable talent for psychokinetic art. Overwhelmed by the oppressive darkness underlying Kamisu 66's societal structure—and gripped by the fear of being eliminated by a 'Tainted Cat' due to his below-average psychic performance—he makes the fateful decision to flee the village at the age of fourteen, disappearing into the outside world alongside Maria Akizuki. The child they leave behind becomes a pivotal element driving the Queerats' rebellion in the story's later chapters.
