Born into a celebrated rakugo lineage in Kyoto, Mangetsu Tsuburaya is the son of the renowned performer Manzai Tsuburaya. Following his father's passing, disheartened by the declining vitality of Kamigata rakugo, he stepped away from the art and carved out a career in the television industry as both a talent and a broadcast writer. Everything changed, however, when a chance performance alongside Taro reignited a passion he thought he had left behind. Moved by that transformative encounter, Mangetsu turned his back on the screen and returned to the stage, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to preserving and passing on the legacy of Kamigata rakugo.
