Martin was the very first true companion the protagonist made upon entering the game world, beloved by the townsfolk for his radiant and sociable nature. However, fate took a cruel turn in the opening episode when a botched apple-peeling incident led to his untimely death at the protagonist's hands, branding the hero with the infamous title of 'Friend Slayer.' From that point on, Martin resurfaces repeatedly as a grotesque, vengeful spirit — a phenomenon players dread as 'Martin Time' — casting a shadow of horror and dread over the early chapters of the story.
