Philip

Philip hails from a high-ranking ducal family and is established within the story as Walter's lifelong nemesis. Carrying a strong sense of elite superiority, he is proud by nature and refuses to back down from any challenge. Whether in aristocratic social settings or contests of various accomplishments, he repeatedly squares off against Walter in an effort to assert his own dominance. Despite his conceited demeanor, the moments when he comes up short in their rivalry frequently provide comic relief throughout the story.
