Originally from the Rukongai, she was later taken in as an adopted daughter of the Kuchiki Clan. In the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, she serves as Vice-Captain of the 13th Division, achieving her Bankai 'Hakka no Togame' following rigorous training at the Soul King Palace, which allowed her to overcome the formidable opponent Äs Nödt. As the pivotal figure who granted the protagonist Ichigo his Soul Reaper powers, she demonstrates remarkable growth and an unwavering resolve to protect her allies in the final battle.
