Ruomen

Ruomen hails from a distinguished lineage of medical practitioners and stands as both the adoptive father and foundational teacher of Maomao. He once served as a physician within the imperial harem, yet was made to bear responsibility for another's medical error, suffering castration and the removal of his kneecaps before being expelled from the palace. His temperament is as tender as a devoted mother, and his mastery of Western-style medicine is unrivalled across the land, complemented by sharp powers of observation. Nevertheless, his disregard for status and persistent misfortune have kept him mired in hardship throughout his life. In the second season, he is invited to return to the harem in an important capacity, lending his expertise to the diagnosis and delivery care of the consorts.
