A high-ranking Orbital Knight of the Vers Empire, Saazbaum lost his fiancée in a catastrophe fifteen years prior, fueling a deep-seated hatred toward the imperial family that ultimately drove him to orchestrate the outbreak of war. In the second arc, he recognized Slaine's potential and adopted him as both son and designated heir—only to be undone by the very cunning and ruthlessness he himself had cultivated in the young man.
