Shintarou Hayashi

Shintarou Hayashi serves as a member of the independent surveillance unit within the Mibu Rōshigumi, recognizable by his twin-tail hairstyle and distinctive Kansai dialect. Possessing exceptionally sharp perception, he was among the first in the group—second only to the protagonist Jin'ō—to detect the presence of a Chōshū domain spy hiding within their ranks. Despite holding knowledge of the true circumstances surrounding Serizawa Kamo's assassination, his unwavering trust in Jin'ō leads him to keep silent, choosing to protect the bond they share.
