Susumu Otonashi

Susumu Otonashi is a fifty-year-old managing director of the Otonashi Group and the second son of its chairman. Despite his conscientious work ethic, he has long lived in the shadow of his accomplished elder brother Ryoma, nurturing a persistent sense of inadequacy. Twenty-three years ago, the two brothers conspired to eliminate their tyrannical mother, yet the plan never came to fruition. When their mother was later murdered, the incident drove a deep wedge between the siblings. During the 'Sleep Murder' case, driven by a desire to uncover the truth behind his mother's death and to confront long-held guilt, Susumu was guided by Kotoko Iwanaga toward an eventual reconciliation with his brother.
