Yamada works as a cashier at the supermarket 'Super S', providing exceptionally warm, polite, and bright customer service that serves as the ultimate daily comfort for the overworked salaryman, Sasaki. However, once off the clock, Yamada adopts a completely different style—cool, casual, and fond of smoking. To avoid shattering Sasaki's idealized image of the perfect clerk, she puts on a leather jacket, exposes her ear piercings, and introduces herself as 'Tayama' to guide the desperate, smoke-deprived Sasaki to the quiet spot behind the store. In this secluded smoking area, she takes pleasure in playfully teasing and bantering with Sasaki, yet her underlying kindness and empathy always shine through. Although she frequently drops hints about her dual identity, she remains both amused and slightly frustrated by Sasaki’s sheer obliviousness, finding comfort in their shared, quiet moments of respite.
