January High-Rated New Anime Recommendations | Is anyone else watching these?
A lot of new anime have been released in January; I've picked a few high-rated ones to share with you all.
The Journals of My Foreign Life (Isekoku Nikki)
It tells the story of a socially anxious novelist who adopts her 15-year-old niece and their life together.
It has a bit of a Hirokazu Kore-eda style, delicately depicting the cautious, occasionally over-analyzing, and often mutually healing interactions between East Asian women.
More suitable for those 30+.
The Dangers in My Heart (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu)
I haven't watched much pure romance anime since Tsuki ga Kirei, but this one is simple and direct.
The popular girl in class and the introverted, steady male lead like each other; they hold hands in the first episode, which really warms the heart.
The following three are sequels, so you need to watch the previous seasons first:
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2
I can't believe it's been three years since the first season. There's no recap, and the story starts off quietly, like setting off on a journey again with an old friend you haven't seen in a while.
After the First-Class Mage Exam, the old lady and her two apprentices embark on a journey north. It's still as calm as water, but leaves a warm feeling in your heart after watching.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3
Adapted from the prequel to the Culling Game arc, Yuji has to fight against the judgment and participate in the Culling Game to save people and Gojo.
It focuses on survival game rules and strategy. The budget feels very high this season; Maki's rampage in episode four is worthy of a standing ovation.
Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku Season 2
The first season was about the death row convict Gabimaru going to the Shinsenkyo to find the Elixir of Life in exchange for a pardon, only to lose his memory at the end.
In the second season, everyone has to fight the Tensen and help Gabimaru recover his memories.
Produced by MAPPA, it's known alongside Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen as the "Dark Trio," exploring life, death, desire, and self-acceptance.
