As a seasonal anime follower, the overall quality of 2025 is better than 2024. There are highlights in all four seasons, making it really hard to choose.
The summer season of "Chainsaw Man" S2 has indeed seen major improvements. MAPPA has learned its lesson; the storyboarding and pacing are much better than in S1.
I think the autumn season is the strongest. The 4K remaster of "Attack on Titan" is stunning, plus the excitement of the new "Blue Lock" arc.
From a corporate slave's perspective: Summer is the best because you get time off to binge-watch anime. Chainsaw Man S2 + summer vacation = the perfect combination.
It was only when looking back at the best of the year that I realized I'd followed so much. A year really goes by so fast.
Winter has the most dark horses. Besides Stars Align, there are a few other niche works with extremely high quality.
The final season of Oshi no Ko this spring... the ending is controversial, but the overall production quality is top-notch.
From a historical perspective: the quality of anime in 2025 is comparable to 2011 (Madoka, Steins;Gate). A good year.
The anime music in 2025 is also really great. Every season has a few OPs/EDs that I can't stop looping.
