Addendum: The ending of "20th Century Boys" is quite controversial, but I personally find its open ending to be rather flavorful.

As a fan of the original manga, I’d say: Kaiju No. 8 S2 needs to have better pacing than S1 to have any hope. That part of the original work is actually quite good.
