Angels of Death is a TV action-psychological thriller anime produced by J.C.STAFF, adapted from the original game by Makoto Sanada. The story follows Rachel Gardner, a girl who awakens with no memories in a mysterious multi-floor building, and forms an unsettling pact with Isaac Foster, a scythe-wielding killer: she wants to die, and he will be the one to kill her. Together they must survive each floor's deranged guardian—including the likes of Edward Mason, Catherine Ward, Daniel Dickens, and Abraham Gray—in a harrowing descent into madness. Directed by Kentaro Suzuki with series composition by Yoshinobu Fujioka, the series masterfully translates the game's oppressive tension and psychological horror into a compelling animated experience.
Plot
Deep within the basement of a decrepit, abandoned building, a 13-year-old girl named Rachel Gardner regains consciousness with no memory of how she got there. Disoriented and alone, she begins exploring the eerie, labyrinthine structure in search of answers—or at least a way out. Her wandering leads her to an unexpected encounter: a man named Isaac Foster, his entire body wrapped in bandages and armed with a massive scythe that evokes the image of the Grim Reaper himself. Despite the unsettling nature of their meeting, the two form an unlikely alliance, bound together by an unusual and almost absurd promise. Trapped within this strange, multilayered building with no clear explanation for why fate has brought them together, Rachel and Isaac must navigate its mysteries side by side. What secrets does this place hold, and what lies behind Rachel's missing memories? Their desperate journey to escape has only just begun.
