Introduction / Synopsis
Summary
BTOOOM! is an action, psychological, and sci-fi TV anime adapted from the manga by Junya Inoue. The story follows Ryouta Sakamoto, a top-ranked player of the online game BTOOOM! who suddenly finds himself stranded on a remote island, forced to fight for survival in a deadly real-life version of the game using explosive BIMs. Alongside fellow survivors like Himiko, alliances are tested and human nature is pushed to its limits in a relentless battle of wits and willpower. Produced by the acclaimed studio MADHOUSE, with direction by Kotono Watanabe and series composition by Yousuke Kuroda, this series delivers pulse-pounding tension that fans of survival thrillers won't want to miss.
Plot
Btooom! plunges viewers into a chilling survival scenario where the line between virtual reality and the real world has been horrifyingly erased. Ryouta Sakamoto is a young man who, by most measures, hasn't amounted to much in life — except within the online game Btooom!, where he ranks among the world's top players. His ordinary life is shattered when he awakens on a remote tropical island with no memory of how he got there. Armed with only a small supply of rations and a pouch of explosive devices known as BIM, he also discovers an unusual green crystal embedded in his left hand. The island is vast, isolated, and far from empty — and it quickly becomes clear that the rules governing this place bear an unsettling resemblance to the game he knows so well. Who brought him here, and why? What dangers lurk among the island's other inhabitants? Ryouta's gaming expertise may be his greatest asset, but surviving this world will demand far more than skill alone.
