Plot
Bungo Stray Dogs 4 opens with a look back at the origins of the Armed Detective Agency, tracing the unlikely partnership that first set everything in motion. Before the Agency existed, Yukichi Fukuzawa had left military life behind, hoping to carve out a living as a freelance swordsman-for-hire. When business proves harder than expected, a chance encounter with the sharp-tongued and remarkably perceptive Ranpo Edogawa—amid a strange murder case—changes the course of both their lives. In the present day, Ranpo is hot on the trail of a gifted individual whose ability makes them capable of committing the ultimate untraceable crime. As the investigation deepens, a far more dangerous conspiracy targeting the Agency itself begins to surface. The detectives press forward despite the mounting risks, only to find themselves on the wrong side of the law—branded as terrorists and hunted by the very authorities they once worked alongside. With their backs against the wall, the Agency members must seek out unlikely alliances to reclaim their name.
