Introduction / Synopsis

Summary

Caligula is a TV anime produced by Satelight, adapted from the game developed by フリュー, blending Action, Mystery, and Sci-Fi into a gripping tale of virtual-world entrapment. Protagonist Ritsu Shikishima begins to question the seemingly perfect digital reality he inhabits, joining forces with allies to uncover the truth and find a way back to the real world. Directed by Junichi Wada with series composition by Doko Machida, the series delivers a psychologically charged narrative built on identity, illusion, and rebellion. For fans of mind-bending sci-fi mysteries with high-stakes action, Caligula is a must-watch.

Plot

Somewhere beyond the reach of reality's suffering lies Mobius — a virtual world designed as an eternal high school paradise, where those burdened by pain in the real world can lose themselves in an endless loop of carefree student life. Presiding over this digital realm is μ, an all-powerful vocal program that acts as Mobius's divine guardian. Most inhabitants drift through their days unaware, but a handful of students begin to sense that something is deeply wrong with this seemingly perfect world. Banding together in secret, they form the Go-Home Club, united by a single goal: to break free from Mobius and return to reality. Standing in their way are the Ostinato Musicians, devoted followers of μ who view the Go-Home Club's ambitions as nothing short of heresy. In a world built on beautiful illusions, the desire for truth comes at a price.
