On an ordinary day, high school student Sakura Sakurakouji witnesses something deeply unsettling from a bus window — a boy her age standing calmly amidst an eerie blue flame, completely unharmed. The haunting image refuses to leave her mind. When she returns to the scene the following day, all traces of the incident have vanished without explanation. Her unease deepens when a mysterious transfer student named Rei Oogami appears in her class, distinguished by the black glove he always wears on his left hand and an air of cold detachment that sets him apart from everyone else. Rei is no ordinary student — he belongs to a shadowy group known as Code Breakers, individuals who officially "do not exist." Operating under a ruthless creed of using darkness to combat darkness, he embodies a brand of justice that stands in stark contrast to Sakura's deeply held belief that taking a life is never justified. Their two opposing worldviews set the stage for an intense and unpredictable relationship.
