Introduction / Synopsis

Summary

Concrete Revolutio is an original TV anime produced by bones, blending action, drama, fantasy, mystery, sci-fi, and supernatural elements into a bold and visually striking experience. Created by series composer and original author Shou Aikawa and directed by Seiji Mizushima, the series unfolds across a non-linear timeline set in an alternate Showa-era Japan teeming with superhumans. Characters like Jirou Hitoyoshi and Kikko Hoshino grapple with clashing ideals of justice and humanity, making this a thought-provoking ensemble drama that goes far beyond typical superhero fare.

Plot

Welcome to an alternate version of Japan set in a fantastical "age of gods," roughly two decades after the war. This reimagined nation has undergone remarkable growth, and within it exists an extraordinary reality: every kind of superhuman ever imagined in fiction now coexists in the same world. Titans descended from the cosmos, beings from mystical realms, ancient spirits and yokai, scientist-engineered cyborgs, and remnants of lost civilizations all walk among ordinary people. While some superhumans live openly and have even become beloved public figures, others conceal their true nature and operate from the shadows. Lurking beneath the surface are shadowy organizations that view superhumans as targets. To maintain peace and stability, the Japanese government established a special division under the Ministry of Health and Welfare — the Overpopulation Research Laboratory, commonly known as the Superhuman Bureau. Tasked with locating, engaging, and protecting superhumans across the country, the Bureau is where our protagonist, Jirou Hitoyoshi, works. His journey begins here, in a world brimming with powers beyond imagination.
