In the world of Mecha Ude: Mechanical Arms, ancient alien lifeforms once descended upon Earth and began merging with humans. Because their fused forms closely resembled mechanical limbs, these beings came to be known as "Mecha-ude." Hikaru Amatsuga, an ordinary middle schooler, finds himself in an unexpected bond with Alma, a Mecha-ude of exceptionally rare and unique nature. To keep Alma safe, the resistance organization ARMS dispatches Aki Murasame — a skilled dual Mecha-ude wielder — to stay by Hikaru's side at all times. Yet Aki carries her own agenda: she is on the hunt for a mysterious Snake-Type Mecha-ude user who has left several of her fellow members in critical condition. Meanwhile, lurking in the shadows, the powerful Kagami Group pursues a legendary Mecha-ude called the "Trigger Arm," rumored to bestow limitless power upon its wielder. Caught between these forces, Hikaru's once-quiet life is about to change in ways he never imagined.
