In the 20th century, a catastrophic meteor storm known as Invertia reshaped the world as humanity knew it. This cosmic event also gave birth to a new breed of humans called the Genestella, individuals gifted with extraordinary abilities from birth. Rising above the water's surface stands Rikka, a unique academic city comprising six rival academies and commonly referred to as Asterisk. It serves as the grand stage for the Festas, the world's most prestigious battle tournament where Genestella compete for glory and their deepest desires. Scholarship student Ayato Amagiri transfers to Seidoukan Academy carrying a personal wish close to his heart.
