The world was forever changed thirty years ago when a catastrophic event known as a 'spacequake' obliterated the heart of Eurasia, killing over 150 million people in an instant. Ever since, unpredictable spacequakes of varying scale have continued to strike across the globe, forcing humanity to adapt to a constant state of emergency. Shidou Itsuka is an ordinary high school student whose life takes an unexpected turn when he finds himself at the epicenter of one such disaster and encounters a mysterious girl unlike anyone he has ever met. Through his sister Kotori Itsuka, he discovers that these catastrophic events are caused by beings from another realm known as 'Spirits,' whose very arrival in the human world triggers devastating spacequakes. Kotori, who harbors a surprising secret of her own, reveals that Shidou possesses a unique power that could be the key to protecting humanity — though the method he must use is anything but conventional.
