Introduction / Synopsis
Summary
Valvrave the Liberator is an original mecha action TV anime produced by Sunrise. Directed by Kō Matsuo with series composition by Ichirō Ōkouchi, the story follows Haruto Tokishima as he awakens a mysterious and powerful mecha to fight for survival against overwhelming forces. With a richly constructed sci-fi world, morally complex characters such as L-ELF Karlstein and Saki Rukino, and high-stakes political intrigue woven throughout, this series delivers non-stop thrills for fans of action-driven mecha anime. A bold original work crafted entirely by Sunrise.
Plot
In True Calendar year 71, humanity has undergone a dramatic transformation—over 70% of the world's population now calls outer space home, thanks to the revolutionary development of the Dyson Sphere, a massive orbital city complex. On the geopolitical stage, two dominant superpowers vie for global influence: the militaristic Dorssia Military Pact Federation and the trade-driven Atlantic Rim United States (ARUS). Caught between these giants is the small but prosperous nation of JIOR, which has carefully maintained its neutrality through economic strength alone. Life inside JIOR's Sphere seems peaceful enough, particularly in the residential block known as Module 77, where high schooler Haruto Tokishima spends his days in quiet normalcy. That calm is shattered without warning when Dorssian forces launch a sudden military assault on the colony. Amid the chaos and confusion of the invasion, Haruto stumbles upon a mysterious and powerful humanoid weapon called Valvrave—and nothing in his world will ever be the same again.
