Cestus

Cestus is a fifteen-year-old boy trapped at the very bottom of Roman imperial society, forced to risk his life in the brutal arena time and again in pursuit of a single fragile hope: freedom. Under the rigorous tutelage of his master Zafar, he has learned to compensate for his smaller frame through razor-sharp reflexes and technical precision that few can match. Yet beneath the hardened exterior forged by countless battles, Cestus harbors a warmth and moral compass that refuse to be extinguished. Each time he is compelled to defeat—or worse, kill—an opponent, he is torn apart from within, endlessly searching for meaning and humanity amid the bloodshed.
