Jiritsu Kikai

Jiritsu Kikai is a self-directed quadruped robot that Chito and Yuuri encounter within an edible fish production zone deep in a crumbling civilization. Long after human society has collapsed, this steadfast machine continues its original mission—carefully tending to the last surviving fish within the facility. Remarkably equipped with an empathy function that enables meaningful dialogue with humans, it offers the two protagonists a calm, reasoned perspective on the nature of life and the concept of evolution. When rogue construction machines threaten the zone's final living inhabitants, Jiritsu Kikai steps forward to guide the girls in protecting what little life remains.
