Kaimaru

Kaimaru is the youngest child among the human settlers on the island, born as the son of a bandit chief. Trauma from his past has led to a psychological regression, leaving him unable to speak. Yet he possesses an exceptionally rare gift among humans — the ability to communicate with animals. During foraging expeditions, he frequently returns with companions such as puppies and domestic ducks, contributing to Sakuna's farming activities and resource gathering. To the members of the pioneer group, Kaimaru is a warmly cherished presence, regarded as nothing less than family.
