Michitaka Sakai

Sakai Michitaka is a close friend of Kudou Chika, affectionately known among his peers by the nickname "Mittsu." After entering high school, he became inseparable from Adachi Saneyasu and Chika, and the three were jokingly dubbed the "Three Idiots" for their constant antics together. His original reason for joining the koto club was purely practical—to help Chika keep the club from being disbanded—but over time, he discovered a genuine passion for the traditional instrument. As the eldest son in his family, he is never without a bandage or two on hand, a small but telling sign of how devotedly he looks after his younger siblings. When second year begins, he finds himself placed in Class A, the only club member separated from the rest of the group. Without Mizuhara Kota or Chika nearby, he drifts to the fringes of his new class. The situation grows heavier when his mother is unexpectedly hospitalized, forcing him to shoulder full responsibility for his siblings and leaving little time for practice. After navigating through a series of hardships, he simplifies his sheet music to manage the burden—yet never loses sight of his personal aspiration: to develop a sound that stands entirely on its own.
