On the surface, she acts cold and dismisses manga as having no real value to life; however, she is secretly the former professional manga artist "☆野0," whose work deeply inspired the protagonist, Ai Yasumi. Having faced painful failure and cancellation in her own creative career, Rei knows the harsh realities of the industry and initially discourages Ai from taking creation lightly. To test Ai's resolve, she sets an incredibly difficult challenge to complete a full manga in one week. Witnessing the students' unyielding determination and raw passion eventually reignites Rei's own dormant love for manga, prompting her to become the advisor of the school's Manga Research Club and support them with her tough-love guidance.
