In contrast to the exceptionally talented protagonist Jan Akiyama and the highly skilled Kiriko Gobanchou, Okonogi initially struggles with basic culinary skills and is frequently scolded by senior coworkers. Despite this, a gentle, humble, and friendly nature allows Okonogi to connect with Jan, becoming one of the very few people whom the fiercely competitive protagonist genuinely considers a friend after Okonogi offered comfort during a difficult moment.
