Tomosuke Matsumoto

Tomosuke Matsumoto devoted his entire life to the art of lexicography, spearheading the ambitious 'The Great Passage' dictionary project at Genbu Shobo. Central to his philosophy was the belief that a dictionary serves as a vessel carrying readers across the vast ocean of words. Recognizing rare potential in Mitsuya Majime, he entrusted the project's future to him. Though Matsumoto passed away before witnessing the dictionary's completion, his boundless love for language and meticulous craftsman's spirit left an indelible mark on the editorial team, inspiring them to see the project through to the end.
