Which is worse: a bad anime ending or a bad source material ending?
I was chatting with a friend about this topic recently, and we felt that both situations are painful but in different ways.
Bad anime ending: Like an original ending or a failed adaptation; it feels like a betrayal by the production team.
Bad source material ending: The ending of a manga/light novel you've followed for years is baffling, and even if the anime hasn't reached that point yet, you already know the ending is terrible.
Personally, I think a bad source material ending is worse because you've invested more time into it, and at least the anime has a chance to change things and save it (though it rarely succeeds).
Have you all experienced this kind of pain? Which one do you find harder to accept?
By the way, are there any cases where a bad ending was successfully saved?
